Saint-Julien
William Kelley for Robert Parker
In the glass, the 2020 Ducru-Beaucaillou unfolds aromas of dark berries, pencil shavings, violets and pipe tobacco, framed by creamy new oak. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with a deep but tightly wound core that is still quite wrapped in extract and oak tannin, even if it is not quite as big as its 2019 counterpart. It will require some patience.
