Description
France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Saint-Julien
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a 2ème Grand Cru Classé in Saint Julien on the left bank of Bordeaux. Steeped in history, this 13th-century winery has belonged to the Borie family since 1941 and has been managed by Bruno Borie since 2003. He is also responsible for the château's recent boom. The 75 hectare vineyard is planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Some of the vines date back to 1918. The word "Beaucaillou" means "beautiful stones" because of the large pebbles that cover the soil of the vineyards. This loose and permeable soil offers the vines an excellent terroir and produces wines of great complexity.
