Château Cheval Blanc This 18th century château is located in the commune of Saint-Émilion on the right bank of the Gironde and has been awarded the highest distinction of “Premier Grand Cru Classé A” in all classifications to date (some even place it above this) and has the same reputation in Saint-Émilion as Château Mouton-Rothschild in the Médoc. As a novelty for the region, the red wine is made with a very high proportion of Cabernet Franc. Due to the iron-rich gravel and sandy soil on clay, this variety achieves a ripeness like nowhere else in Bordeaux.
