Description

France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Pauillac

The 18th century château was acquired by the Cazes family in 1934. Today it is managed in the fourth generation by Jean-Michel Cazes, who has been producing wines of consistently high quality ever since. The vineyards extend over 100 hectares on the banks of the Gironde, south of the town of Pauillac in the heart of the Médoc. They are planted with the typical grape varieties for a classic Bordeaux blend. The composition of this fine wine varies from year to year depending on how the grapes have responded to the weather conditions of the vintage. In 1985, French astronaut Patrick Baudry took a bottle of 1975 Lynch Bages aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. This makes Lynch Bages the first wine to be sent into space.
