Description
France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Pauillac
The 18th-century château was acquired by the Cazes family in 1934. Today, it is run by the fourth generation, Jean-Michel Cazes, who has since produced wines of consistently high quality. The vineyards span 100 hectares on the banks of the Gironde, south of the town of Pauillac in the heart of the Médoc. They are planted with the typical grape varieties for a classic Bordeaux cuvée. The composition of this fine wine varies from year to year, depending on how the grapes responded to the vintage's weather conditions. In 1985, French astronaut Patrick Baudry took a bottle of 1975 Lynch Bages aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, making Lynch Bages the first wine ever sent into space.
