Description

France / Champagne / Dizy

With the Extra Brut Cuvée N°744 DT, Jacquesson presents a particularly rare and uncompromising interpretation of its famous “700” series. DT stands for “Dégorgement Tardif” – late disgorgement – and refers to bottles that remain on the lees for many additional years before disgorgement and dosage. The grapes come from selected Premier and Grand Cru sites in the Côte des Blancs and the Grande Vallée de la Marne, where Jacquesson has consistently pursued its parcel-focused, quality-driven philosophy for many years. Long ageing in large wooden foudres followed by extended lees ageing gives the cuvée additional depth, complexity and maturity, while the very low dosage brings the pure character of terroir and vintage to the fore.

In the glass, N°744 DT shows a rich golden colour with exceptionally fine, creamy mousse. The nose unfolds in multiple layers: ripe yellow apple, candied citrus fruit and dried apricot, joined by roasted hazelnuts, brioche, honey and a touch of fine, noble oxidative character from the long lees ageing. On the palate the Champagne is dense and powerful yet precise and taut, with chalky minerality, perfectly integrated acidity and an endless, lightly saline finish. A great gastronomic Champagne for connoisseurs that shows its full class alongside sophisticated cuisine – from fine fish dishes and poultry to mature hard cheese.

In Portrait:

Jacquesson

Jacquesson is one of Champagne’s most exciting, quality-driven houses and is regarded as a pioneer of a purist, terroir-focused style. Based in Dizy, the estate farms high-quality sites around Aÿ, Avize and Oiry, mainly planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The focus is on low yields, a high proportion of estate-grown grapes, spontaneous fermentation and as little intervention in the cellar as possible. Jacquesson is famous for its numbered 700-series cuvées, which finely reflect each vintage profile instead of forcing a constant “house style”. Low dosage, long lees ageing and clear terroir expression result in Champagnes with tension, depth, saline minerality and impressive gastronomic suitability – perfect for lovers of characterful, serious Champagne.

Origin in Focus

Champagne

Champagne in north-eastern France is the home of the world’s most famous sparkling wine. The cool climate, limestone and chalk soils, and a long tradition of bottle fermentation shape its unmistakable style: tension, finesse and characteristic minerality. The main grape varieties are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier.
