Description

France / Champagne / Dizy

With the Extra Brut Cuvée N°749, Jacquesson continues its famous “700 series,” where each year the character of a specific base vintage is highlighted. The N°749 is predominantly based on the 2021 vintage and is complemented by carefully selected reserve wines. The blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a small proportion of Meunier is largely aged in large wooden barrels and disgorged as Extra Brut with a very low dosage of around 2 g/l – a conscious step towards the greatest possible transparency of terroir and vintage.

In the glass, the N°749 presents itself in pale gold with fine, persistent perlage. The nose reveals notes of citrus zest, white peach, ripe apples, and white flowers, underpinned by a hint of brioche, toasted nuts, and delicate chalkiness. On the palate, the champagne is precise, taut, and mineral, with a firm yet finely integrated acidity, clear fruit, and great length. The dry, purist style allows the depth and complexity of the cuvée to shine through, making it an ideal partner for seafood, fish dishes, and purist gourmet cuisine – or for champagne lovers seeking the unadulterated expression of a great house.

Jacquesson

Jacquesson is one of Champagne’s most exciting, quality-driven houses and is regarded as a pioneer of a purist, terroir-focused style. Based in Dizy, the estate farms high-quality sites around Aÿ, Avize and Oiry, mainly planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The focus is on low yields, a high proportion of estate-grown grapes, spontaneous fermentation and as little intervention in the cellar as possible. Jacquesson is famous for its numbered 700-series cuvées, which finely reflect each vintage profile instead of forcing a constant “house style”. Low dosage, long lees ageing and clear terroir expression result in Champagnes with tension, depth, saline minerality and impressive gastronomic suitability – perfect for lovers of characterful, serious Champagne.

Origin in Focus

Champagne

Champagne in north-eastern France is the home of the world’s most famous sparkling wine. The cool climate, limestone and chalk soils, and a long tradition of bottle fermentation shape its unmistakable style: tension, finesse and characteristic minerality. The main grape varieties are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier.
