Description

France / Bordeaux / Graves / Pessac-Léognan

Château La Mission Haut-Brion was founded in 1682 under the auspices of the Catholic Church. Despite many changes of ownership, La Mission Haut Brion is one of the few wineries with an almost uninterrupted history of excellent wines. Since 1983, the château has belonged to the Dillon family, who already own the Château Haut-Brion directly opposite. Inspired by the ethics and dedication of the Lazarists, the Dillon family began to modernize the entire property. Only 3.7 hectares of the vineyards are planted with the white grape varieties Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The harvest takes place in the early morning hours to preserve the freshness and fruitiness of the grapes.

Renovation and modernisation: Inspired by the ethos and dedication of the Lazarists, the Dillon family began renovating the château and modernising the cellar. Within 25 years, they succeeded in raising the quality of the wines to the point where they could once again be counted among the great Grand Cru Classé.

Top ratings: The wines of Château La Mission Haut Brion are appreciated worldwide and regularly achieve top ratings from renowned wine critics. Robert Parker particularly highlights the château: ‘In my private cellar, I have more bottles of La Mission Haut Brion than of any other wine in the world.’
