Description

France / Bordeaux / Graves / Pessac-Léognan

The history of La Mission Haut-Brion dates back to 1540 when Bordeaux merchant Arnaud de Lestonnac bought the property. In 1682 the inheritance was transferred to the Lazarists of Bordeaux. This is how La Mission Haut-Brion came into being under the umbrella of the Catholic Church. Despite many changes of ownership, La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the few wineries with an almost uninterrupted history of excellent wines. The current owners are the Dillon family. Parker writes of the winery: “I have more bottles of La Mission Haut-Brion in my personal collection than any other wine. It has long been one of the best wines and one of the most consistent in terms of quality."
