Description
France/ Bordeaux/ Graves/ Pessac-Léognan
The history of La Mission Haut-Brion dates back to 1540 when Bordeaux merchant Arnaud de Lestonnac purchased the estate. In 1682, the inheritance was transferred to the Lazarists of Bordeaux. Thus, La Mission Haut-Brion was created under the auspices of the Catholic Church. Despite many changes of ownership, La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the few wineries with an almost uninterrupted history of excellent wines. The current owner is the Dillon family. Parker writes about the winery: "In my personal collection, I have more bottles of La Mission Haut-Brion than of any other wine. It has long been one of the best wines and one of the most consistent in terms of quality."
