The 2020 Figeac is the best wine bottled to date at this estate since its renaissance began a decade ago. Aromas of blackberries and raspberries, mixed with cigar paper, pencil shavings, licorice and black truffle, pour from the glass. It is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a supple, harmonious profile, lively acids and wonderfully refined, structuring tannins. This flavorful, complex wine embodies the essence of this great terroir. Two years after extensive soil surveys were conducted at the estate and the first growing season to use ground cover in the vineyards year-round, the 2020 benefited from more coherent plot delineation and a more precise harvest, which together help to explain its lead over the excellent 2019.
