Description

France / Burgundy / Chablis / Fourchaume

The dry, crisp wines from Chablis are world-renowned for their quality and style. Chablis is the northernmost wine-growing region of Burgundy with a rather cool climate. The white, chalky soil gives the wines their characteristic flint note, and the Chardonnay grape provides fruit and substance. The Premier Cru vineyard Fourchaume has been organically certified since 2019 and is planted with an average of 40-year-old Chardonnay vines. Fourchaume is one of the most famous Premier Cru sites in Chablis. This crisp, convincing Chablis comes from the renowned producer Simonnet-Febvre, who has specialized in Chablis production since 1840.

Simonnet-Febvre

This traditional house based in Chablis is one of the defining producers of northern Burgundy. The focus is on classic Chablis wines from Chardonnay as well as fine sparkling Crémants de Bourgogne in white and rosé. The cool climate and limestone- and Kimmeridgian-influenced soils provide marked saline minerality, firm acidity and very clear citrus-driven fruit. The Chablis range extends from straightforward village wines to precise Premier Crus and more densely structured sites with ageing potential. The Crémants impress with fine perlage, a fresh and lively style and versatility with food – from aperitif to lighter cuisine. Vinification and ageing emphasise cleanliness, precision and restrained oak use. For a premium online shop, the house offers reliable, characterful Burgundies with an attractive price-enjoyment ratio.

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
