Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Pomerol
Trotanoy is one of the legendary châteaux in the Pomerol appellation and has been owned by the renowned Moueix winemaking family, who also own Château Pétrus, since the 1950s. The château's name means "too bothersome." This was probably intended to express how difficult the dense gravel and clay soils are to work, situated over a layer of hard, iron-rich soil. This fascinating soil diversity gives the wine power, depth, and complexity. The 7.2-hectare vineyard is planted with old Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines, which yield very low crops. Therefore, only very limited quantities of this complex, concentrated wine with excellent aging potential can be produced.
