Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Pomerol
Trotanoy is one of the legendary châteaux in the Pomerol appellation and has been owned by the renowned Moueix family of winemakers since the 1950s, who also own Château Pétrus. The name of the castle means "too troublesome". It was probably intended to reflect the difficulty of cultivating the dense gravel and clay soils over a layer of hard, ferrous soil. This fascinating variety of soils gives the wine strength, depth and complexity. The 7.2 hectare vineyard is planted with old Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines that only bring very low yields. Therefore only very limited quantities can be produced of this complex, concentrated wine with excellent aging potential.
