Description

France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion / Libournais

The Dillon winemaking family considers Quintus their fifth child, alongside the red and white wines of their Châteaux Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. Since the Romans, the creators of the Saint-Émilion vineyards, had a tradition of naming their fifth child Quintus, Clarence Dillon renamed the estate Château Quintus. A bottle shape specifically designed for Quintus was also introduced, inspired by the bottle shapes used by Château Haut-Brion in the mid-19th century. One of these ancient bottles was recently excavated from a pirate cave on the island of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean. As with its predecessors, an embossed seal was engraved into the glass.

Château Quintus

Château Quintus, a prestige project of Domaine Clarence Dillon, known for Haut-Brion among others, was created by uniting two traditional estates on one of Saint-Émilion’s highest points. The terroir of pure limestone, clay and sandy plateau sites offers ideal conditions for Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wines show depth, aromatic freshness, fine spice and an elegant, mineral structure. Through precise parcel work and modern vinification, Quintus pursues the same high quality standards as its famous sister estates. The result is powerful, harmonious and long-lived crus that enrich Saint-Émilion with a new, expressive voice.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
