The Dillon family of winemakers consider Quintus to be their fifth child alongside the red and white wines of Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion. Since the Romans, the creators of the vineyards of Saint-Émilion, had the habit of naming their fifth child Quintus, Clarence Dillon renamed the winery Château Quintus. Inspired by an old watchtower built on the plateau above Saint-Émilion, the winery's second wine was named Le Dragon de Quintus - a mythical creature that guards and protects its treasure: the spectacular terroir.
