Neal Martin for Robert Parker
On the palate, the 2014 Léoville-Poyferré is medium-bodied with firm structure, suggesting it has become more voluminous since its opulent appearance in barrel. Overall, it is perhaps a little more austere and masculine than other wines from Didier Cuvelier, this is not a criticism, just an observation. I would like a little more persistence on the finish, but the news bodes well for this capricious and intriguing Léoville-Poyferre. I see it improving with bottle age, hence the plus sign on my score.
