The winery, founded in 1870, was particularly influenced by Miguel A. Torres. He introduced the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc and was particularly committed to environmental protection. He has received several awards for his life's work. Today, the fifth generation is in charge and continues the innovative spirit of experimentation and consistent quality control. The winery is considered one of the most modern in the world. From the mid-1980s onwards, the focus was increasingly on sustainable viticulture. The wines from the privileged individual sites, such as this Mas La Plana, are among the top wines in the world.
