The winery, founded in 1870, was particularly shaped by Miguel A. Torres. He introduced the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc and was particularly committed to environmental protection. He received multiple awards for his life's work. Today, the fifth generation is responsible and continues the innovative experimental spirit and consistent quality control. The winery is considered one of the most modern in the world. From the mid-1980s onwards, the focus increasingly shifted to natural viticulture. The wines from the privileged single vineyards, like this Reserva Real, are among the top wines in the world.
