Founded in 1870, the winery was particularly shaped by Miguel A. Torres. He introduced the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc and was particularly committed to environmental protection. He received several awards for his life's work. Today, the fifth generation is in charge and continues the innovative experimental spirit and consistent quality control. The winery is considered one of the most modern in the world. From the mid-1980s onwards, the focus increasingly shifted to sustainable viticulture. The wines from privileged single vineyards, such as this Mas La Plana, are among the top wines in the world.
