Description

France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Margaux

The estate "La Mothe de Margaux" (the Margaux hill) has been known since the 12th century. In 1976 Andre Mentzelopoulos acquired Château Margaux from the Ginestet family and invested heavily in the vineyards, cellars and oak barrels. Today his daughter Corrine Mentzelopoulos runs the château. In 2003 she was able to buy back the majority stake in Margaux previously held by the Agnelli Group and became the sole owner. With great commitment, she and her cellar master go to great lengths to obtain that tiny bit of extra quality that makes their Margaux one of the best quality wines in the Médoc. The Premier Grand Cru Classé winery is also known as the "Crown Jewel of the Médoc" and its wine is considered a paragon of elegance and finesse.
