Pessac-Léognan
William Kelley for Robert Parker
The 2019 La Mission Haut-Brion unfolds in the glass with aromas of dark berries, wild plums and cherries, mingling with warm spices, embers and creamy new oak. It is full-bodied, deep and layered, rich and concentrated, with a rich fruit core, bright freshness and fine, powdery tannins. Powerful and dense, it is less lush and demonstrative than its sibling Haut-Brion, but I suspect it has even greater potential.
