William Kelley for Robert Parker
The 2019 D'Armailhac wine has a more classic balance compared to the rich 2018. When poured, it unfolds a bouquet of violets, blackberries and cassis, accompanied by subtle nuances of liquorice and warm spices. In terms of taste, it moves between medium-bodied and full-bodied, with its texture being velvety and fragrant. It literally envelops the palate and shows an inner core of juicy fruit aromas. The tannins that provide structure are wonderfully polished and soft like powder. This impression continues through to the lingering finish, which is framed by soft tannins.
