Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Pauillac
Since Baron Philippe de Rothschild took over the estate in 1933, the history of Château d'Armailhac has been inextricably linked to that of Château Mouton-Rothschild. The vineyards of the two châteaus are adjacent to each other and are managed by the same team. The soils of the Château d'Armailhac vineyards consist of light and very deep gravel on a clay-limestone base - the preferred terroir of the Cabernet grapes. Vines over 130 years old grow here, some of the oldest in the Médoc. The terroir and the old vines give the wines their elegant Pauillac character with concentrated aromas and a smooth texture.
