Château Beychevelle is considered one of the most beautiful châteaux in Bordeaux. In the midst of vineyards, surrounded by a wonderful park, it is located directly on the Gironde. The name derives from the term "baisse-voile" ("to lower the sails") and refers to the legend of the passing ships in honor of the lord of the house, the first Duke of Epernon, Jean-Louis Nogaret of Valetta sails lowered.
