Description

The 2023 vintage typically presents as reductive, with a complex minerality: flint notes and a citrusy freshness open the aromatic profile, complemented by white flowers, herbs, and fresh yellow fruit. On the palate, it unfolds vibrant acidity, a grippy structure, and a salty, chalky length – a Burgundian-fresh, salty Veltliner with great finesse.

Moric

The Moric estate in Burgenland, Austria, stands for authentic, terroir-driven Blaufränkisch wines that enjoy international recognition. Founder Roland Velich brought Blaufränkisch onto the world stage with his philosophy of restraint and precision. His red and white wines combine elegance, structure and origin – true premium wines from Austria that reflect the unique terroir of Burgenland.

Origin in Focus

Burgenland

Burgenland in eastern Austria is a warm, sun-rich wine region with diverse soils around Lake Neusiedl. It is famous for elegant to powerful red wines from Blaufränkisch (spicy, structured), Zweigelt (fruity, juicy) and St. Laurent. Thanks to the humid mists around the lake, outstanding noble sweet wines are also produced. Among the whites, Chardonnay and Welschriesling are particularly convincing, some matured in oak.
