Description

Roland Velich's house brand is much more than a by-product. With it, the Moric winery pursues a deliberately alternative concept: uncompromising origin, unadulterated and unfiltered, regardless of vintage norms. The "Hausmarke Rot" is based on a Solera idea – this bottling combines the 2022, 2021, and 2020 vintages. The wine is made from various plots around Neckenmarkt and Lutzmannsburg, spontaneously fermented and aged in used wooden barrels.

The current bottling presents itself with cool spice, dark berry fruit, ethereal herbs, and mineral depth. On the palate, it is lively, taut, and juicy. The combination of freshness, subtle ripeness, and delicate oxidation makes this wine a true character. Complex, edgy, and inviting to drink – with a deliberate willfulness.

Origin in Focus

Burgenland

Burgenland in eastern Austria is a warm, sun-rich wine region with diverse soils around Lake Neusiedl. It is famous for elegant to powerful red wines from Blaufränkisch (spicy, structured), Zweigelt (fruity, juicy) and St. Laurent. Thanks to the humid mists around the lake, outstanding noble sweet wines are also produced. Among the whites, Chardonnay and Welschriesling are particularly convincing, some matured in oak.
