Robert M. Parker, Jr.
The 2011 Trotte Vieille is a serious attempt, with an inky blue/purple colour and a tannic, masculine style that begs for bottle age. Impressively concentrated with notes of liquorice, blackcurrant and a subtle touch of oak, and a powerful, long finish, this is a remarkable effort in a demanding vintage. Forget it for 2-3 years and enjoy it over the next two decades. This wine was created by consultants Denis Dubourdieu and Gilles Pauquet.
