Chateau Smith Haute Lafitte 

Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a jewel among the Médoc wineries, rises majestically in the rolling hills of the Bordeaux region. For more than two centuries, this historic estate has stood for outstanding wines and French elegance. The vineyards extend over 78 hectares in the municipality of Pessac-Léognan and are planted with the region's classic grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Wine was planted at Château Smith Haut Lafitte as early as the middle of the 14th century, making the vineyards among the oldest in Bordeaux. In 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the former top athlete couple of the French Olympic ski team, acquired the château.

A third of the vineyards were replanted, sustainable farming was introduced and a cooperage was built on the property. With these massive investments they have transformed a sub-par winery into a highly acclaimed top producer of both red and white wines. For several years now, a high-class hotel and a restaurant with two Michelin stars have complemented the property.
