Description
France / Bordeaux / Graves / Pessac-Léognan
Wine was planted at Château Smith Haut Lafitte as early as the mid-14th century, making the vineyards one of the oldest in Bordeaux. In 1990, the former top athletes from the French Olympic ski team bought the château. One third of the vineyards were replanted, organic farming was introduced and a cooperage was built on the site. With this massive investment, they have transformed an underperforming winery into a highly acclaimed top producer of both red and white wines. For the past few years, a high-end hotel and two-Michelin-star restaurant have complemented the property.
