2014

Historical XIXth Century Wine

Château Palmer
France | Bordeaux | Margaux
Neal Martin for Robert Parker

The 2014 Historical XIXth Century Wine, compared to the Alter Ego, the fruit intensity on the nose is much more intense: more density, perhaps more opacity, with better definition. Dark plums, blackcurrant jam and minerals abound. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, angular tannins and crisp acidity (pH 3.6), a hint of black pepper enlivens the back of the palate with a tight, fairly grippy finish. This is a more masculine Palmer in prospect, deserving of five or six years in bottle.
