Description

France / Bordeaux / Graves / Pessac-Léognan

The vineyards of Château Haut-Bailly extend over 30 hectares in the Graves region. Unlike most other wineries in the region, the Château specializes exclusively in red wine production. The Pessac-Léognan de Haut-Bailly is the third wine of Château Haut-Bailly, with grapes sourced from the youngest vineyards. This is a rounder cuvée with less barrel aging, making it very approachable even at a young age. The wine is, so to speak, the younger brother of Château Haut-Bailly. This Château bottling from the Premiere Grand Cru Classé winery is a true "Friends and Family" wine and is exclusively served in French gastronomy, unless you have good connections to the family!

Château Haut-Bailly

Château Haut-Bailly is a renowned Graves estate in Pessac-Léognan, whose old vines stand on poor gravel soils with an iron-rich subsoil.

The Cabernet-dominated vineyard area is finely parcelled and sustainably farmed; in the cellar, the estate relies on precise, gentle vinification and measured ageing in French oak. The style: noble, cool elegance with cassis and red fruits, cedarwood, fine graphite spice and firm, silky tannins that give excellent ageing potential.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
