Lisa Perrotti-Brown for Robert Parker
The 2017 Haut-Bailly has a very deep garnet-purple color and a wonderfully spicy nose with notes of cinnamon sticks, cloves, anise and fenugreek, a core of roses, warm blueberries, Black Forest gateau and black raspberries, and a hint of undergrowth and iron ore. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied, with firm, ripe, grainy tannins, plenty of freshness and great finesse that continues into the long, mineral finish.
