Description

France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Margaux

The vineyards of Château Giscours are located in the heart of the 400-hectare estate in the Margaux appellation. Here on the left bank of the Gironde, vines up to 70 years old grow on gentle slopes with deep gravel. This terroir is particularly well-suited for Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes up the majority of the Grand Vin's blend. Classified as a Grand Cru, Château Giscours wine is a remarkable representative of the elegance and finesse of the great wines from this prestigious terroir. The winery has been owned by Dutchman Eric Albada Jelgersma for many years. After immense investments in the vineyard and cellar, Château Giscours is now equipped with state-of-the-art cellar technology, and the 43 vineyard parcels are in the process of converting to particularly sustainable viticulture.

Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a historic Margaux estate with an imposing property and extensive gravel rises in Labarde. The vines – mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot – are rooted in deep Günz gravels over sandy-clay subsoil, which favours excellent drainage and fragrant finesse. Precise parcel selection, sustainable vineyard work and selective hand harvesting form the foundation; in the cellar, gravity-fed processes, gentle extraction and measured ageing in French oak ensure clarity and elegance.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
