Description

The family-run Weingut Weedenborn, located in Monzernheim, works in the tradition of modern organic wines – close to nature, terroir-focused and with attention to detail. Winemaker Gesine Roll relies on hand-picked grapes, natural vine care without herbicides, gentle processing, and precise cellar work that combines expression and drinking pleasure.

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc "Terra Rossa" from Weingut Weedenborn presents itself as a prime example of the elegance and complexity that this vintage has to offer. Matured in 65% oval Stockinger oak barrels with a capacity of 1,600 liters, the wine shows remarkable depth and structure. The mineral character of the terroir, especially from the "VDP.Erste Lage" quarry, is clearly expressed and gives the wine a cool, clear characteristic. The aromatic palette ranges from fresh mint and ripe grapefruit to exotic fruits such as mango, papaya, and physalis, accompanied by subtle herbal spice. On the palate, the wine is dense, rich in extract, and bone dry, with a fine acid structure and a long, salty finish. This Sauvignon Blanc is reminiscent of a fine Graves white wine in its style and promises remarkable aging potential.

Origin in Focus

Rheinhessen

Rheinhessen, Germany’s largest wine-growing region, lies between Mainz, Bingen and Worms and is shaped by gentle hills, fertile loess and limestone soils, and a mild climate. Versatile wines are produced here, above all fresh, often fruit-driven Rieslings and Pinot Blanc, as well as characterful Silvaner and increasingly exciting red wines such as Pinot Noir.
