Description

France / Champagne

2015 Cristal presents itself with a temperament that is more reminiscent of limestone and soil than of sun, which is rather unusual for such a sun-drenched vintage. The wine promises good storage potential.

Intense golden color with shiny reflections. Extremely fine, dynamic effervescence. Intense bouquet with densely concentrated notes of yellow fruits (white peaches, mirabelles) and wonderful roasted aromas reminiscent of roasted hazelnuts and almonds. The Chardonnay contributes almond notes, harvest aromas and sweet pollen to this complex, perfectly integrated combination, while the Pinot Noir provides juicy aromas of red fruits. Concentrated, energetic and vibrant on the palate at the same time. The opening is velvety, flattering and almost oily. It is characterized by the sweet notes of candied fruits and iodine-containing spice aromas. Then the powdery texture tightens up and the freshness increases. The wine shows its pure, precise, chiseled side. The extremely tasty finish is based on juicy, saline notes influenced by wood. It is densely concentrated and at the same time has a great aromatic finesse.

Origin in Focus

Champagne

Champagne in north-eastern France is the home of the world’s most famous sparkling wine. The cool climate, limestone and chalk soils, and a long tradition of bottle fermentation shape its unmistakable style: tension, finesse and characteristic minerality. The main grape varieties are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier.
