La Chapelle 2022

Domaine de la Chapelle stands for great Hermitage wines with modern precision and deep roots in terroir. The estate comprises top sites on the legendary Hermitage hill and continues the tradition of the famous “La Chapelle” wines. Under the direction of Caroline Frey, organic and biodynamic principles are followed consistently; in the spectacular cellar designed by Bjarke Ingels, vinification takes place by gravity rather than pumps – gentle, precise and quality-focused. At the centre are multi-layered Syrah red wines with dark fruit, graphite, pepper and remarkable depth, as well as characterful white wines from Marsanne and Roussanne with creamy texture, herbal spice and mineral tension. Long ageing and finely judged oak use give the wines elegance, complexity and great cellaring potential – ideal for demanding Rhône lovers and collectors.

The Rhône is divided into two distinctive parts: the northern Rhône, with steep terraces and a cooler climate, and the southern Rhône, with Mediterranean warmth and wide plains.

In the north, Syrah dominates, producing powerful, spicy red wines.

In the south, blends are the focus, above all Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, ranging from juicy and spicy to powerful and complex.

Well-known appellations include Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Côtes du Rhône, which stand for accessible, versatile wines. Herbal garrigue notes, dark berry fruit and fine spice are typical aromatic profiles.
