Frerejean Frères Cuvée Eclipse Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut 2016
Description
Description
France / Champagne / Côte des Blancs
The Frerejean Frères Cuvée Éclipse Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut 2016 showcases the precise, radiant Chardonnay side of the house – a vintage champagne exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs around Avize. Here, on chalk-dominated soils with a cool microclimate, Chardonnays of great finesse, tension, and longevity are produced.
The 2016 Éclipse matures for many years on the lees before being disgorged as Brut with a low dosage. This emphasizes clarity, depth, and the saline minerality of the terroir. In the glass, it presents itself in light straw gold with the finest, long-lasting mousse. The nose combines notes of citrus zest, white peach, and green pear with hints of chalk, toasted almonds, and delicate brioche. On the palate, the champagne is both straightforward and creamy: cool, precise acidity, juicy fruit, chalky texture, and a very long, finely spiced finish.
A Blanc de Blancs with strong character, exemplifying the signature of Frerejean Frères – finesse, complexity, and gastronomic orientation – shining both on its own and with fine fish dishes, oysters, or elegant appetizers.
