Lisa Perrotti-Brown for Robert Parker
The 2017 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is medium to deep garnet purple in color and is initially somewhat closed, soon revealing floral notes of lilac and lavender over a core of black raspberries, warm blackberries and forest floor, as well as notes of star anise and steamed black tea. On the palate it is medium-bodied, full of energy and elegant, with gently played tannins and beautiful floral and black fruit layers, finishing with a long-lasting whisper.
