Description

France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Pauillac

The vineyards start just behind the château and extend over 70 hectares to the border of Saint Julien. By the year 2000, the vineyards had been gradually expanded, one plot here, one there. However, this drive for expansion watered down the quality. The turning point came with winemaker Christian Seely. He reduced the vineyard area for the Grand Cru to the Grand Terroir. With the result that the Pichon-Baron has become more consistent and full phenolic maturity is achieved. The result is wines with the classic Pauillac character, powerful and rich in finesse, with the typical tannin structure. The development that Pichon-Baron has made over the past four decades is truly remarkable.
