The Smith Haut Lafitte 2020 is more structured and introverted than its 2019 predecessor. In the glass, it unfolds aromas of cassis and plums that mingle with notes of pencil shavings, violets and minty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, its velvety opening leads into a multi-dimensional mid-palate framed by rich, generously extracted tannins that prevail in the long, youthfully firm finish. This is a strong performance that stays true to the house style and will reward a little patience.

Château Montrose

Over two centuries, three owner families have shaped the history of Château Montrose. With passion and a tireless pursuit of the best possible quality, they have created many legendary vintages.

In 2006, the third generation of the Charmolüe family sold the winery to Martin and Olivier Bouygues. Both loved the wines of Château Montrose, they were aware of the potential of the site and the unique terroir. Under their leadership, the spectacular reconstruction of Montrose began.

The production buildings were renovated over seven years. Today they use 50 percent less energy than before the renovation. Today, the winery's cross-generational team is led by Melissa Bouygues and Hervé Berland. Château Montrose owns 95 hectares of vineyards in one piece around the château.

There are no bad vintages at this chateau. If the grapes do not meet the requirements, the yield is reduced without compromise and less is produced.
