Description

France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Saint-Estèphe

Over two centuries, three families of owners shaped the history of Château Montrose. Their passion and tireless pursuit of the best possible quality led to many legendary vintages. In 2006, the third generation of the Charmolüe family sold the estate to Martin and Olivier Bouygues. Both loved the wines of Château Montrose; they were aware of the potential of its location and unique terroir. Under their leadership, the spectacular reconstruction of Montrose began. Today, the estate's intergenerational team is led by Melissa Bouygues and Hervé Berland. The vineyards are managed sustainably, based on the principle that a good wine is made in the vineyard, not in the cellar.

Château Montrose

Over two centuries, three owner families have shaped the history of Château Montrose. With passion and a tireless pursuit of the highest possible quality, they produced many legendary vintages.

In 2006, the third generation of the Charmolüe family sold the estate to Martin and Olivier Bouygues. Both loved the wines of Château Montrose and were aware of the potential of the site and its unique terroir. Under their leadership, the spectacular rebuilding of Montrose began.

The production buildings were renovated over seven years. Today, they consume 50 percent less energy than before the renovation. The estate’s cross-generational team is now led by Melissa Bouygues and Hervé Berland. Château Montrose owns 95 hectares of contiguous vineyards around the château.

There are no bad vintages at this château. If the grape material does not meet its standards, yields are uncompromisingly reduced and less wine is produced.
