Château La Mondotte 2020

Château La Mondotte is a tiny, high-lying terroir jewel on the eastern edge of Saint-Émilion, directly on the limestone-influenced slope. The old, densely planted vines – mainly Merlot with Cabernet Franc – grow in compact limestone with a thin clay layer, which favours low yields, natural concentration and cool, saline tension. In the vineyard, precise manual work and strict selection dominate; in the cellar, vinification is carried out parcel by parcel with very gentle extraction and restrained use of oak. The style: powerful yet focused – dark cherry and plum, violet, graphite, taut, chalky-silky tannins and impressive length. The château creates distinctive Saint-Émilions that show the essence of the limestone plateau in concentrated, elegant form.
