Description

France / Bordeaux / Pomerol

Like all châteaux in Pomerol, Château La Fleur-Pétrus is not classified, yet it is considered one of the best châteaux in this appellation. Located in direct proximity to its two namesakes, Château Lafleur and Château Pétrus, it rests on the excellent gravel and clay soils of the Pomerol plateau. Today, the château is managed by Christian Moueix, the third generation of his family. Château La Fleur-Pétrus

Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a renowned Pomerol estate on the high plateau between Pétrus and Lafleur. The vines – mainly Merlot with a proportion of Cabernet Franc – are rooted in a mosaic of gravel, clay and iron-rich ‘crasse de fer’, which encourages low yields, high natural concentration and cool tension. Precise parcel work, selective hand harvesting and gentle, parcel-by-parcel vinification with measured use of oak shape the style: deep, dark fruit, violet and graphite notes, silky, tightly knit tannins and a long, elegant line. A classic, characterful Pomerol with excellent ageing potential.

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
