After Clarence Dillon bought Haut-Brion in 1935, he helped the Château regain its former glory and rejoin the elite circle of the world's most legendary wines. This exceptional and bold vision is now continued by the family's fourth generation. In the town of Pessac, a few kilometers from Bordeaux, lies Château Haut-Brion, one of the three Dillon family estates and the oldest winery in the region. The vineyards cover a total area of 46 hectares, and the average age of the vines is 40 years. Château Haut-Brion's special position is also reflected in the fact that it is the only one of the 61 châteaux classified in 1855 not located in the Médoc.

Château Haut Brion

Château Haut-Brion is one of the oldest and most renowned wine estates in the world. Since the 16th century, it has shaped winemaking in Pessac-Léognan and in 1855 became the only estate outside the Médoc to receive Premier Grand Cru Classé status.

The wines are famous for their complexity and long life. Aromas of dark berries, tobacco, truffle and spice combine with a fine mineral note. On the palate they are powerful, yet silky and very long. The cuvée is based mainly on Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The terroir of deep gravel and sandy soils with a proportion of clay, together with the mild climate of Graves, creates ideal conditions. Precise manual work and careful vinification further enhance the elegance of the wines. Particularly prized vintages such as 1989, 1990, 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015 impress with depth and enormous ageing potential.
