After Clarence Dillon bought the Château Haut-Brion in 1935, he was able to continue the former fame of the winery and join the elite circle of the most legendary wines in the world. Today, the oldest château in the region is run by the fourth generation of the family, represented by Prince Robert of Luxembourg. The special position of Château Haut-Brion is also reflected in the fact that it is the only one of the 61 châteaux classified in 1855 that is not in the Médoc. The extraordinarily beautiful "Indian Summer" in September 2014 with temperatures of around 30°C allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly. This great vintage still needs some time in the bottle to show what it can really do.

Château Haut Brion

Château Haut-Brion zählt zu den ältesten und renommiertesten Weingütern der Welt. Seit dem 16. Jahrhundert prägt es den Weinbau in Pessac-Léognan und erhielt 1855 als einziges Gut außerhalb des Médoc den Status eines Premier Grand Cru Classé.

Die Weine sind berühmt für ihre Komplexität und lange Lebensdauer. Aromen von dunklen Beeren, Tabak, Trüffel und Gewürzen verbinden sich mit einer feinen mineralischen Note. Am Gaumen wirken sie kraftvoll, zugleich seidig und von großer Länge. Die Cuvée basiert überwiegend auf Merlot, ergänzt durch Cabernet Sauvignon und Cabernet Franc. Das Terroir aus tiefen Kies- und Sandböden mit Lehmanteil sowie das milde Klima der Graves schaffen ideale Voraussetzungen. Präzise Handarbeit und sorgfältige Vinifikation verstärken die Eleganz der Weine. Besonders geschätzt sind Jahrgänge wie 1989, 1990, 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 und 2015, die durch Tiefe und enormes Reifepotenzial begeistern.
