Description
France / Bordeaux / Graves / Sauternes / Barsac
The brothers Philippe and Dominique Baly produce one of the best Sauternes in Bordeaux at Château Coutet, which is classified as Premier Cru Classé. The winery, with its impressive 110-meter-long barrel cellar, is one of the oldest in the region. Its vineyards lie between the Garonne and Ciron rivers and thus benefit from the special microclimate and the autumn mist required for the production of noble sweet wines. The vineyard soils made of limestone combined with oxidized iron give the wines their characteristic finesse and tension. In 2015, the harvest lasted 28 days: the grapes were meticulously selected by hand to meet the brothers' high standards. A charismatic Barsac that was made for a long storage period.
