Description
Description
Thomas Jefferson praised Château Coutet as the best Sauternes from Barsac. And to this day, the estate continues to produce one of the best Barsacs year after year. With an average age of 35 years, the vines have developed deep roots to extract nutrients from the chalky and clayey terroir, giving the grapes freshness, complexity and power. For this reason, the wine is named "Coutet", derived from the Gascon word for knife, to describe the fresh, lively and crisp taste that characterizes the estate's style. A particular specialty is the "Cuvée Madame", which is made from the Tête de Cuvée (must from the first pressing) in very small quantities.
