Castello di Fonterutoli Gran Selezione Badióla 2018
Description
Description
For 24 generations, the Mazzei family has been producing wines of impressive quality. Beginning with the 2017 vintage, the winemaking family decided to express the biodiversity of their terroirs by separately vinifying three Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, each with its own distinct characteristics. The grapes for Badióla come from vineyards located 570 meters above sea level, making them among the highest in Chianti Classico. The municipality of Radda in Chianti, where the vineyards are located, benefits from an overall cooler climate and, especially, low daytime temperatures. This extends the ripening period of the grapes, which are not harvested until October – thus creating a Sangiovese with great depth and tension.
