For more than three centuries, San Leonardo has belonged to the Guerrieri Gonzaga family. The long family tradition is reflected in every corner of the winery. Marquis Tullo, an oenology enthusiast, refocused the winery in the early 20th century. His son Carlo was the first trained winemaker in the family. With his enthusiasm for great wines, he devotes all his time and attention to San Leonardo. He passed his passion and love for wine on to his son Anselmo, who now runs the winery. In 2015 he converted the winery to organic viticulture so that he could further increase the quality and terroir expression of his wines. For this Carmenère, grapes from the oldest plots of the award-winning winery are vinified separately.
