Tenuta dell' Ornellaia, one of the most famous wineries in the world, thrived under the management of the Frescobaldi family. For 700 years the family has strived to develop and preserve the diversity of the Tuscan terroir. The Frescobaldis own some of the largest vineyards in the region and value each individual's identity and autonomy. The grapes from the different vineyards are fermented separately, giving the wine its unique character. Sustainability is an essential part of the viticulture philosophy. Like Ornellaia, Masseto is vinified by cellar master Axel Heinz. He is considered the Italian answer to Pétrus.
