Description

Italy / Trentino

San Leonardo has been owned by the Guerrieri Gonzaga family for more than three centuries. The long family tradition is reflected in every corner of the winery. Marquis Tullo, an oenology enthusiast, reoriented the winery at the beginning of the 20th century. His son Carlo was the first trained winemaker in the family. With his enthusiasm for great wines, he dedicates all his attention and time to San Leonardo. He passed on his passion and love for wine to his son Anselmo, who now manages the winery. The work in the vineyard is carried out in a particularly natural way so that he can further increase the quality and terroir expression of his wines. For this Carménère, grapes from the oldest parcels of the multi-award-winning winery are vinified separately.

For generations, the Guerrieri Gonzaga family has cultivated a winemaking tradition that unites handcraft, sustainability and the highest quality. Alongside the famous cuvées made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot, the fresh, mineral white wines such as “Vette di San Leonardo” are equally impressive. A piece of Italian wine culture appreciated by connoisseurs worldwide.

Origin in Focus

Trentino

Trentino in northern Italy is shaped by an alpine climate, steep slopes and cool nights – ideal conditions for fresh, aromatic wines. It is especially known for elegant sparkling wines made by the traditional method as well as crisp white wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Müller-Thurgau. Among the reds, Pinot Nero and Teroldego dominate: the former fine and fragrant, the latter dark, spicy and characterful. The combination of elevation, Dolomite rock and careful viticulture results in clear, precise wines with lively acidity and mountain character.
