Description

Italy / Tuscany

The Tenuta San Guido winery is located ten kilometers from the coast in Tuscany. Marchese Mario Incisa della Rochetta settled here. Already as a student, he had a dream of making a noble wine, inspired by the great Bordeaux wines, and began experimenting with French grape varieties. Until 1960, the wines were only consumed at the winery. It was only at the insistence of his son Nicolò and his famous nephew Piero Antinori that the Marchese was persuaded to market the wine. Since then, Tenuta San Guido wines have been among the world's best, and the winery has long become a legend. Le Difese is the little brother of the iconic Sassicaia, offering excellent value for money.

Origin in Focus

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy’s defining wine regions, known for Sangiovese and iconic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Mediterranean climate with sea breezes and diverse soils produces elegant, fresh wines with structure. On the coast, ‘Super Tuscans’ are also made from Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties. In addition to red wines, the region offers characterful whites such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Vermentino, as well as the traditional dessert wine Vin Santo. The result: tradition meets innovation – with clear terroir expression and great drinking pleasure.
